C. from Wilmington to the ocean (with the view of making a navigable channel twenty feet deep at mean low water.) , Amendment for reducing the appropri ation for dredging Chineopeague Bay, Va.from $50,000 to $25,000, was on the reccommendation of the committee, disagreed to. An amendment directing a survey for a ship canal from LaSalle, 111., to. lake Michigan, near Chicasro, provoked 'a good deal of discussion, alone with the H Hennepin canal amendment, which was linked with it in the debate.
